Zero to one building

Account management

2024 – 2025

I helped build Found's account management team: we called our most promising new customers, helped them get set up, and hired as we grew.

We didn't design the support model up front. We tried things, measured them against control groups, and kept what worked. The upside concentrated in our best customers: an hour with them returned far more than an hour anywhere else, so that's where we pointed the team.

~40× contribution per hour, best cohort vs. worst · ~2× funding lift among top-decile customers

AI engine optimization

2025 – Present

People increasingly ask AI assistants which bank to use. I set up Found's program for winning those recommendations and ran it as a loop: measure where assistants recommend Found and where they don't, build content aimed at the gaps, draft it with AI, publish, measure again.

Refreshing one comparison page lifted its citations by about half within a week, and the gain held.

AI workflows

Research automation

2025 – Present

Customer research used to go through me. Now a PM picks who they want to talk to and the workflow does the rest: it finds the customers, books the calls, and drafts the outreach. The emails come from the PM, not from a bot.

Listening runs on its own too. Meeting notes, support tickets, Slack, and app store reviews roll up into a weekly readout that nobody has to write.

Programmatic video

2026

AI assistants cite video heavily, so we needed videos. Instead of hiring an agency, I built a pipeline: each video renders from React components and one data file, the narration syncs to the script, and the captions come straight from the approved copy, so the video can't drift from what compliance signed off on.

The first video was the expensive one; every video after reuses the template.

Strategy

Customer insights

2022 – Present

The first thing I owned at Found, and I still do it. I interview customers, write up what I heard, and send it to the whole company, ending with what we should build and who should build it. Some of those write-ups became shipped features. My favorite came from ecommerce sellers who were splitting deposits into buckets by hand; the product does it for them now.

I still take account management calls for the same reason. Talking to customers is the fastest way I know to find the next thing worth building.

Planning and board materials

2022 – Present

I run the process and much of the writing behind quarterly planning, board meetings, and fundraises, including pieces of the Series B and Series C decks.

Villa

2020 – 2022

I ran product, design, and engineering at California's largest builder of prefab backyard homes, and built the team behind it: designers, engineers, architects, operations.

The core problem was a tension. Customers wanted homes that felt like theirs, and the factory needed a small set of options it could build efficiently. We designed a product line that did both and scaled the factory with our build partner. A Tesla-style configurator tied it together: design a home for your own lot, see the price, order it online.
